What if we're the ones waiting to be found?
Time and time again, countless leaders of thought and culture peered up into the skies for answers.
What if we are the solution we are looking for?
The topic of aliens and extraterrestrial beings is a conversation many people seem to be talking about of recent. Whether it be random Facebook posts or Action Bronson's hazy reruns of Ancient Aliens, the idea of life being habitable outside of Earth seems possible if not probable. And one man wants to make sure that we see that possibility in our lifetime.

In a recent talk given at the 67th IAC (International Astronautical Congress), the real-life Iron Man, Elon Musk proposed the first steps for humanity's potential for being a multi-planetary culture as his next stage for Space X. He started off his business ventures by the creating cutting edge internet banking website and product known as PayPal and then creating the first electric sports car, the Tesla.
Elon Musk's space business venture started off in 2002 with less than 10 people, a mariachi band, and Musk. Within the first couple of years, the Space X team had a couple of launch tests that had failed and had cost them a lot of Musk's personal assets. The work finally paid off in 2008, in which the team launched it's first craft, Falcon 1, into orbit and successfully landing a NASA contract to bring supplies to the ISS. The first contract was then carried out at Cape Canaveral through their Dragon spacecraft in 2010. This stamped Musk as the first privatized space entrepreneur in history and it wasn't long until he broke every limit placed on him.
Within 5 years, Elon Musk revolutionized the space industry and blew the masses away with his first successful spacecraft that both took off and landed with the same craft that changed the way we deal with the "space junk" from our previous rockets and allowed for reusability.

That was 2015.
Now it's 2016.
What has the South African born innovator been up to now?
On September 27th, 2016 Elon Musk gave an hour long talk about manifesting his childhood dream; traveling to Mars. Musk proposed to create an opportunity for individuals on Earth to move to Mars for the price of an average household; $200,000. That's right, he said move to Mars.
In his talk, Musk discusses options for converting Mars' atmosphere so that it's breathable for humans as well as turning ice on Mars to a source of water for sustainability. He explains how the rocket itself would travel for about three months before making it's descent onto the surface and then making it's return shortly after. Space X is already making the rocket engines without a problem en masse but has been taking some time making a carbon fibre tank as well as the propellant depot, both for carrying the fuel for the ride there. These two additions will help humanity explore the other planets and moons in our solar system by "planet hopping" and creating refueling outposts. The other implication of these types of rockets is that they will allow you to transport people and materials anywhere on Earth within 25-45 minutes.
Musk ends his talk with the idea that it's not that human life being interplanetary will increase humanity's potential, but it's about waking up and being excited for the future.
Are you excited for the future?
We sure are!
