Since this is the “re” boot of 5-Dee, I’m going to start off with a review of $uzy’s new Bay Product, 6 Speed. Before we start talking about Su’s new project, we have to refer back to his 2012 mixtape, $uzy 6 $peed. This mixtape was his first fresh work on iTunes that grabbed a lot of attention for listeners and artists alike, spinning off into a collaboration mixtape with Problem.
Now to 6 Speed. Dropped on the 23rd of August, Suzy’s 10-track project is filled with a range of Bay vibes. 6 Speed starts off with “Boss Up” a classic sounding HBK summer anthem with Su! flawlessly delivering bar after bar with the swagger of an East Bay OG. Then interwoven with gems like “Bad 2 The Bone” and “They Want Su” that have RnB melodies and subtle sampling, while keeping the classic California sound. Suzy creates a new sound with his bars in a trap/drill style on “Nah For Real” and “Doggs” that I get a feeling we’re going to hear a lot more of in the Bay.
Special shoutout to “So On” for the story type track that’s reminiscent of “Aura” from KILT 3 that continues his positive, come-up vibe. Here’s the tracklist for Iamsu!’s brand new project, 6 Speed:
